Trauma is one of those words we don’t like to think about, especially when we believe we’ve led ‘normal’ lives with ‘no traumatic events’. Except, most of the time we think of what i call ‘big T trauma’ (the stuff that happened to you), but what’s more common, though equally pernicious, is ‘small t trauma’ (needs we had which were not met).
I hate to break it to you, but chances are you too are traumatised in some sense, and so am i. And sure, i might be projecting here, but all the evidence i’ve seen suggests that’s not the case. It’s just that we’re all on a traumatic spectrum, and some of us have learned to deal with it better than others (some, like me, started learning late).
